- 1979 Jeep CJ5 with 304 V8, T18 Transmission, Dana 20 Transfer case with TeraLow 3:1 gears, 4.88 axle gears, Detroit Locker up front and Ox Locker in back with 1 piece axle shafts, 36" SuperSwamper SX Tires, Shackle reversal, MileMarker Hydraulic winch, MSD 6A ignition.

If you find the gearing is slightly more or slightly less than 4 then Hagar is right and you still have OEM gears. In a '73 CJ there's no telling what a PO might have installed.

I am with Dave on this
a 73 Jeep is 39 years old, and the way 4x4 guys mess with axles, I would do the check to see.
They may be stock, but 39 years of other owners, who knows:dunno:

It would be stock gears because my grandfather previously owned it and never change anything on it. Thanks for the info.

Look on the diff plate bolts, if they are original there could be a tag hanging from one of the bolts telling you the ratio, or the teth count which you can get the ratio from.
