getting frustrated

hello everyone iam new to the
forum and jeeps i have CJ7 1978 with a AMC 304 have been
having issues with it and iam getting very frustrated when
idling it lopes and today when i turnd the key off it kept
running and eventually turnd off now it will not start and
no spark.

Could be many things.

Start by eliminating the easy things first.

Is there spark at the coil?
Is there power to the coil?
Pull the distribution cap. Is the rotor turning?
Is there lots of play when rotating the rotor by hand?
Could be a striped dist gear.

Put a timing light on.
could be the timing gears slipped.

Could be most anything. But here's a start.

there is power to the coil but no spark from the coil so iam guessing bad coil. I hope anyway, could it be the ignition module?

Yes is could the ignition module.

Did you pull the distributor cover? Not uncommon the take the gear out of the dist shaft.

it was the ignition module it starts now but still has the lope in the idle

Is it hitting on all cylinders? Pull 1 plug wire off at a time to see if you can find a dead cylinder.
