so i was in need of removing a deck from the front of my boat to go from family day on the lake to bowfishing at night
i made the deck out of aluminum but with the lights and all the aluminum i used deck turned out to be heavy then i thought so unless i have four or five people around to help pull it on or off it stays on or off so i came up with this rig to add to the front of my jeep
turns out i think i will be using this alot since i can pretty much hook up anything to it pick it up with the winch and move it anywhere i want

Pretty clever!

Nice! :chug:

Any chance you could zoom in on the mounts etc? Been thinking about one myself.

I was thing of putting a 4x6 or something between the frame and axle to take some of the load off the springs.

So that must be a heck of a boat! :D

I do not mind shooting fish in the face with an arrow! Ya know, Austin is just a short drive from Madisonville. We have some of the best bow fishing in the world! Even the river monsters guy came here to catch a gar. Just shoot me a PM if you care to get over this way. Got lots of friends that partake in the sport.:chug:

Interestingly functional.

Now back to the gin pole. Any chance for for detail photos?

I'm thinking of all kinds of uses for one. :D

I trying to get better pictures just been busy working and it's been dark when I get home
Check back tomorrow hopefully I will have th up by 12:00 pm ct

here are the pictures you guys wanted let me know if these pictures aren't good enough
thanks
and good luck
i do not know how safe this is so you be your own judge limit yourself and and don't do anything the cheap way if something were to break or come loose you or someone else could seriously get hurt
just my FYI

And the other foot too! LOL!

That looks like it is handy to have for lifting things. I usually use the bucket on a tractor, but these gin poles look as handy as a pocket on a teeshirt.:notworthy::chug: Good pics of mounting too BTW.

Thanks a lot. I see one in my future.

Never even thought about using angle for the pinning point.

Got some garage walls to lift this Summer.

And a dragline for cleaning some ponds. . and......

:D

Used angle because it was easier to drill one hole then to try and drill a hole through the pipe to match the angle of the pipe

Wish I had a bucket on a tractor hell wish I had a tractor

Also I used a concealing from roll bar to a gross bar 4' from top to raise and lower angle and then the winch to raise and lower load with a snatch block attached to the top

Was thinking that of you had two winches one on front one on back of jeep put a pulley or some kind of roller on top of the roll bar you could control angle and lift with two separate winches with the touch of a button

My poles are 2" thick wall 3/8" I think

the flex a little but was thinking that if your poles flex too much you weld a post perpendicular to the poles in the middle preload your pole in the opposite direction in which they will bend and run some 1/2 - 3/4" rebar from top to bottom and over your post and weld in place
It would keep the poles from bending at least

I have somethig similar that I slip into my receiver hitch in the front. I use my winch to pick up stuff

Something like I reckon is what you have except both short sides are straight
Needless to say my bowfishing deck was too heavier for this 2" thick wall square tubing
