I picked up a new glove box door and latch setup (non existent when I purchased the CJ) for my 76 CJ5 and I am having trouble figuring out how the two work together. The button that fits through the door is pretty simple but the latch piece is a bit confusing. The hole in it is not big enough for the other part to fit through and it hangs down too far for the latch to go under.

ther is a very real possibility that it is because the hole in the door is in the wrong place. Kentrol?

I super glued hard drive magnets to mine to keep it closed after giving up on the latch.

My latch is the same as what is pictured. The short end is what the latch catches on. The bigger part with the hole faces toward the inside of the glove box. I think just to protect from stuff getting in between the two.

Thanks Purple 77, that did the trick. Seems to work just fine.:notworthy:

the hole on my Kentrol SS door is about 1/2 inch low.

That big hole is for a light/switch combination accessory from AMC. I picked one up back in the 70s from the dealer.
