GM TBI throttle cable?

I've searched and searched, but my google-fu seems to be failing...
I'm in the middle of an AFI TBI install on my '83 CJ5 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . I've got the adapter and the throttle body all bolted up, but the stock throttle linkage does't connect (known issue with the AFI kits). From what I can find, the options seem to be:
1. Fabricate an adapter
2. Drill and tap the throttle body to accept a ball clevis
3. Use a different throttle cable.
I'm leaning toward a different throttle cable, at least as a first resort. Lots of recommendations out there for Lokar. Has anyone out there made a Lokar universal throttle cable work with an AFI or a junkyard/GM throttle body? Does the end fitting connect to the clip-type hole in the throttle body?
