Misc. GMRS radio in Tuffy Overhead Console

Hey all,

My searching skills aren't exactly up to par on something like this and I'm having a tough time.

I'm looking to install the Tuffy overhead console...the one with two slots...one for a stereo and one for a CB.

I'd like to use a GMRS radio, so I called Tuffy and asked them what brands would fit. They said they couldn't help me out, but said that any radio that can be installed in a single DIN can be used.

Anyone have any experience in this? Looking to see if there's something out there that would slide in and secure like a stereo would.

I bit of research shows that several models are approximately the same size as a single DIN, but none specifically mention DIN. I'd research thru an automobile electronics shop.

It’s been awhile. We had that console installed in our patrol YJ. I don’t remember the year. We installed a Motorola police radio in it. It didn’t close well with the microphone and cord
