I normally leave my top on minus the zip out windows and the top half of the doors. Yesterday I decided to bring the Jeep to work with no top at all and just the half doors. Well, here in New England we have had the hottest three days of this year so far and broke a couple heat records. I knew it was going to start raining but the weather estimated around 11 pm before it got here. No big deal since I planned on getting out a little early around 3 pm.
I work in a dairy plant as an engineer and I was in a room with no windows doing an installation on a machine. One of my mechanics came to me and said "hey Matt, it is down pouring something fierce right now". This was right around 4pm. I couldn't get out there to put the partial top on and didn't really feel like standing in the down pouring rain to do so I just left it. Well due to issues I never got out of the plant until 5:45 and by that time about 25 people came over to me to let me know how screwed I am. They said it looked like we got an inch of rain in about twenty minutes. Awesome.
The ride home on trash bags was nice and wet. I could barely see out of the window with the rain on the inside as much as out. The highways were flooded partially and my CJ5 does not like that very much when the puddles grab my mud tires and try to rip the Jeep off the road. People who were passing me were slowing down as they got next to me to watch the idiot in the Jeep with no windows. :D I still felt cool in my 5. Screw-em. :chug: So I watched the news when I got home and several towns were flooded and people were losing power everywhere. The storm was pretty severe. When I do thing I make sure I do them right, even driving in the rain. Now it is time to head outside to the get Jeep out for some sun drying today. I hope the weather holds so my seats can dry.

Your lucky to be getting some ran, we can't get any! Most of the trails here were I live are closed from the fire west of Ft. Collins. Supposed to be a 101 today and windy.

Into each life, a little rain must fall.

I was always amazed by the water that comes over the top of the windshield when you hit deep water and lands right in your lap. I never figured out how it got past the front bumper.

when I was young and dumb, I took a parts CJ I bought off a farm to school so i could do some work to it. NO top, no windshield, barely anything inside but the drivers seat base (I put a cushion on it so it didn't poke me in the behind!).

Drive it all the way to school no problem, but I did get a few sideways glances...I guess I looked funny driving the thing in a fully insulated snow suit and full helmet (for the lack of a windshield) in -10* weather during a snow storm...

Rain i can handle, I keep a squeegee in the Jeep for an inside wiper.

Nice man, we don't live all that far from each other. The past few days, and even now, have been pretty nasty out with the high temps and humidity. I just bought a soft top this year. Last year I just rocked the bikini with no doors for pretty much the entire summer. Getting stuck in downpours was always fun, haha. I still have the towels stuffed in my center console for when I get stuck in the rain. :D

I used to work in Northampton at Coca Cola and I shopped at Endangered Species quite a bit. I lived in Enfield then so it was a little closer. I know your area very well.

Cool man. I know those guys at endangered pretty well. I work for the Holyoke fire department so I am by there all the time. They are crazy busy though so I kind of do my own thing for jeep stuff now. I had to wait 2 months for them to change the fluid in some axles not long ago because they are just insane busy. I you are ever in this area give me a shout. I am always taking the jeep or the bike out. I just got some new tires for the bike. My buddy in Cromwell has a friend from BORN that is going to mount them up for me. Can't wait.

I think almost all of us have been stuck driving our Jeeps in a bad rain storm with the top off wishing we had a wiper for the inside and have laugh about it. Its one of those things that make us differnt from the rest of the world. Happy Jeeping

I seriously tried to rig up inside wipers from being caught in the rain so many times! Great story it has brought back some fond fun memories

Small world. I didn't realize you were on BoRn as well. I moderated Born up until this year then backed down to let some of the young pups handle the duties. Do you do trackdays with Tonystrackdays? I have been riding with with him for about 7 years now.

I having been meaning to do one but I just have not had the chance yet. I have done three days with Eric wood and the penguin school there. Good times. With the jeep and other hobbies the track is really expensive.

I always keep a clean rag and squeegie in the Cj. Been there and done that. :)

And I always check Kanes posts so I can thoroughly review his avatar. :D

MMM, yes. I had to steal that from a friend of mine on another forum. :notworthy:
