they came factory
my advice is to do a national search on craigslist
or call jeep only wrecking yards, you can find them quite easy but they will need work and be pricey

I have to disagree with this one Baja I don't believe there was ever a factory CJ5 hard top.

never mind I guess I did it myself. You are talking about the Meyers steel hard top??
all these years I thought that was the one that sears sold after market.
There was no hard top offered for the 77 CJ5 from the factory.
There was some one over in mineral wells about two months ago that wanted some one to remove it from their back yard but I don't think that one had doors. I thought it was just a sears top, for that matter it may well have been there were no real good pictures of it. That was on CL

Steel tops were a factory option, and they actually came with 2 styles of doors, the regular hinged ones and the rarer sliding ones. At least for the CJ5 they were. Jeeps came base model with no top, soft top or hard top. I cannot really tell you how many hard tops were sold, but get a book like "the standard catalog of Jeep" and you will see quite a few pictures of CJ5s with steel tops.

I apologize for that last post , it was totally incoherent and I should have gone to bed.
I knew that when I was looking for a top for my CJ the options were quite Limited and all after market.
