and the most helpful and thoughtful words needed during the darkness and second guessing period of making the choice to let your dog rest...

My Babygirl was put to rest yesterday at my decision... And as anyone who's done this knows, the second guessing is honestly one of the hardest parts.

I just wanted to share the words that helped me, though I still can't read them fully with clear eyes...

She will be missed...

Here's to the ones we lose along our journey...

Wow...that one got me. I've been through that before and there aren't many situations that compare to it. Doing the "right" thing is often the most difficult, but it remains the right thing regardless. Take heart in that.

Sorry for your loss. They really are like family. I tell my daughter often that our dog is her baby brother. I've had to do that 2 times, always hard to do. We get attached.

Sorry to hear

Me too - the previous two as I look back now I know were right and they were ready... This time she walked herself into the vet, and I had every intention of her walking back out with me...

Sorry for your loss Jr. Always hard to lose a dog. My condolences and the best to you and your family during this trying time. Sorry to hear it. Don't second guess yourself.

Oh, man - I hate this for you..... we just did the same thing about a year ago. I read the original post and yeah, made me cry. Still miss the ol' girl..... even though the decision is hard, it's the right thing to do.

JR and Family,
So very sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing the poem. Your post brought big tears to my eyes. We had to put a very special horse down a few years ago. It's a tough time.

JR- the poem is beautiful. You gave her such good honor and touched deep chords in us all. She was lucky to have had you and your family. So sorry.

Dude that sux so sorry for your loss. I am getting close to having to make that same decision and so not looking forward to it

thank you all for the kind words and I apologize for the random allergy attacks with watering eyes symptoms...

I think I'll print out a nice photo magnet or something so she can still ride with me in the jeep...

Your little girl will be waiting for you at Rainbow Bridge.
I have a few waiting for me.
If it wasn't for Dogs-This 'rock' called Earth would be unbearable to live on.:notworthy:
Wish you peace, go get another when ready. It really is the best way to heal the hole in your heart.;)
Respectfully,
LG(Dog lover)

Been 2 years, still miss my oldie. He had a personality unlike any I've ever had. Definitely the hardest "right" thing to do for most of us in life. Hang in there JR, it will get better.

Wow… now I'm a mess too. Sorry for your loss, Jr. A very hard time to be sure.

We lost 'Rup' three years ago… cried like a little boy. Didn't think I wanted another… kind of a guilt thing. I loved that guy. Four months later my wife found a rescue at a pet store and dragged me over there.

This guy leapt into my lap and licked me good... we took him home. It was the therapy he and I both needed.

Prayers sent up for you.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Hard thing to do. Always stick with you for a while. I don't think there is a creature on God's green Earth that has the love and devotion of a dog. Hell, very few people do, or at least it seems that way an awful lot. I've had dogs my whole life, and depend on a service dog every day now. Look at my sig...
