Okay so I was browsing craigslist and found a free yj hard top so I jumped on it and picked it up. I went to place it on the jeep and I'm having some fitment issues. It seems that my windshield is to tall? And then I thought maybe because it's fill fiberglass jeep that the dimensions are off compared to a metal tub and windshield? Has me and my dad stumped. Anyone have any ideas?
The guy said it was a 92 yj top
Will post pics later

Some of my thoughts are that a seal would help level out the gap? Or that maybe I can't get the windshield to seat right on the hard top? If more pictures are needed I can take more

Some pictures
:)

Taking pictures in the right orientation is what is first needed.

Also the view should be from a little further back (2-3 ft) so there is more of the windshield and top shown.......Only the last picture gives a decent view.........and in that picture it seems the top fits the body correctly...........

Door fit is also important in the way they fit the opening , striker and windshield angle.

Fiberglass tops that have just sat on the ground in Hot Weather will take a set in directions that make them hard to fit.........again the rear looks OK , just can't see the front and sides very well.

:D:D:D:D

Okay here are better pictures. The top is sitting a an incline towards the windshield and I don't know if that's normal? I'd assume not.

I have never messed with hardtops, since guys I have known want to get rid of them. I would think you could adjust that windshield angle to accomodate that top and seal, plus get the door to fit correctly. Nice score by the way.

I tried to adjust the windshield but moving it back slides the top of the rear of the tub and moving it the windshield forward picks the hard top up. I'm thing I may have to trim the inside of the hardtop

That sounds like it could work, it does seem to be a close fit. The seal that you use arould the tub could also help.

Could anyone with a hardtop measure from the front of the hood to the top of their windshield and give me the measurement? Just curious to compare it to mine

I have a hardtop, but not mounted.
I just have measured it, 169.5 cm (I only have a metric measuring tape).
That should correspond to 66.7 inch.
It is a CJ7 1979.
Find below how and what I have measured it:

I hope these are the measures you are looking for...

I believe there are some differences in the fitment of a YJ hard top to a CJ frame and windshield. Might research that angle.

Let me ask this. Is your tub or windshield by chance an aftermarket one? I have the same issue with my wifes. Everything but the hood is an aftermarket part and the hardtop fits good on the front ws and at the back, but the gap on the bottom increases as it gets up to the door, 1/2" on one side, 3/8" on the other.
Why. Well it's a combination of parts, all relating to quality control based on factory dimensions or I should say lack of. There is no simple solution for hers.
You didn't happen to put a new seal at the front (above ws) over top the old seal did you? The old one needs to come out for the replacement seal.
