For those with CJ7 with hardtop/hard doors: Is there supposed to be weatherstrip installed on the hardtop mating surface at the door opening? The PO of my jeep had some there along with seal on doors on window frame and the doors were a pain to close properly. I removed on hardtop side and much better but have a tiny gap in some places. thx

Are you talking about around the lip on the tub door opening? Mine is factory original ( I think) and it only has the weather stipping on the front w/s where the front of the door meets the w/s frame and a little rubber looking thing on top in the corner. I hope I didn't confuse you. I hope someone has a couple of pics to post showing this.

No there is not. The rubber door gaskets are the only thing that should be between the door frame and the hard top.

From my own experience as to why you are having leaks:

The door weather seal gaskets are old and cracked and have lost their elasticity.

The windshield frame and/or the windshield hinges have been removed and replaced and the spacing is off, so the hard top is sitting too high.

thanks both for comments. there are aftermarket hinges for the doors that've thrown off the alignment a bit. doors sitting a little low. plus the door seals are old/cracked like you said

My CJ is all out of whack due to body mounts being fubared. Make sure your body bushings are good before killing yourself adjusting hinges etc.
