So I went out with my club today and hammered my diff cover in on my AMC20 .
So I have been shopping around for new cover/protection but the 20 seems to be Limited , so what/ who are ou guys using? Just don't wanna drop AMC 150 on a :dung: cover. Thanks

I went with Riddler covers looks good very tough, there is some videos on youtube with excavators running them over. they are sleek and dont snag on much, im very happy.

Nice, that the on and probably only I can find that looks worth it. Was gonna try and fab up my own gliders for'em too...if I can

I have Solid diff covers, best bang for the buck IMO. I'm not sure what their going for now but I paid $60 with free shipping for my 44"s and $80 for my 60"s

For the money ($65) I'd agree with Posi, but Solid doesn't make a cover for the 20. They do make one for your 30.

ive found the riddler for $AMC 150 and i think they give a deal /saving to club memebers..thats the hard part finding it for the 20? dont have a problem spending as long as its worth it. probably be stupid and wait til i need the 30 Limited funds!!

Are those the American Rebel Outlaw brand covers?

Have you gotten any use out of them yet? I would like to know if they hold up to a little abuse...

I've been mulling over picking a set of those up in the black non-jeep branded variety because of the fill and drain holes (slow leak on my 30 and find filling the 20 a pain). I am a bit wary of the fact that they are made of aluminum not steel but depending on the alloy used there is no reason that they wouldn't be strong enough for moderate use.

The fill on the model 20 is a bit high looking and there are a total of three on the Dana 30 cover so that it can be used on the newer high pinion version as well the old standard ( standard plug is kind of small, my guess is it would probably better to use this as a weep hole to make sure that you are full).

I was liking the rebel covers until I googled them. Uneasy feeling with the "magnetic" drain plug. I have heard of folks drilling and tapping a drain hole, just make sure your covers are thick enough?

I didnt buy them , they were posted in a build thread on here. Their the American Rebel ones you mentioned. The fill hole on the 20 looks so high itd be unusable unless you have a pump. I cant see how youd be able to get a good enough angle to squeeze a bottle into that. :dunno:

Dang, I was hoping to have finally come across someone that has used them. In all of my scouring of the internet I have only been able to find reviews from the JK mall crawling crowd of the covers (who by the way love them).

Corect me if I am mistaken but the fluid level is up to the bottom of that hole which on most axles I have seen goes to about the center of the axle tube, these would certainly over fill the axle with gear lube. I won't say that is a bad thing but it is going to be above the vent fittings on the axle.:D

what is the reason for your uneasy feeling for a magnetic drain plug?

The AMC20 actually fills from the other side. Its a bit higher than the axle tube. Maybe I can get a pic tomorrow sometime. Traditionally diffs fill from the cover. Then you just fill till a small amount seeps out and put your plug in. The AMC20 had to be different. Thats why the stock cover is smooth. I still believe your correct though , that that plug is to high and it would be over filled.
