What requires heavy duty springs vs light duty? I do just fire roads and normal road driving. I probably don't need heavy duty correct? I assume heavy duty makes the ride rougher as well.
 
I would say your thinking is right.
 
I have no idea what your looking at but as an example OME sells light, med, and HD springs. the HD are for if you have a hard top, winch, aftermarket bumpers, ect. The light duty would be for stock with no top.
