Help Identify these CJ Seats

Gang,

Does anyone recognize what year or type CJ these came from? Notice the carpet on one side of the seat, similar to how the Laredo seats are. The difference is the carpet is only on one side. It doesn't go around the back like the Laredo seats. I am stumped. Thanks for any help.

They do not look stock to me. Way to high back. Most likely swapped in by the po.

It’s likely the picture angle, sorry about that. They are stock. I took them apart to refurbish and they had all the same stuffing and anchors as ones without the carpet. And they look identical expect for the carpet on the side. Really odd

Is it possible the centers and seat bottoms were redone? Like they were Laredo seats with the only original material being the carpet area and the seat back? Never saw just carpet in that area alone and I've done quite a bit of research

Same! I am really curious if this is some unknown CJ Species. HA! If I find anything else out I will definitely post it.

When I took them apart they seemed like they were all installed by the factory but you never know. CJ owners are a creative bunch.

They are a good match for the seats that came in the CJ Limited that came out around 82. A "Gentleman's jeep" We didn't sell many back in the day. But that would have been the style. You could also opt for the carpet to go all around the back of the seat about half way up from the bottom. Jeep did a lot of funky interior stuff in the 80s based on the trim package ie. base, Renegade , Laredo , Limited , Jamboree

So I was thinking they were Limited seats but then I saw Limited Seats with the Carpet all around as well as a the side of the lower seat portion. Are you saying that Jeep's Limited Edition had the option that would just put the strip of carpet on the upper side of the seat?

Forty years of life have memories of the exact options thin. I believe that there were many like that but cannot confirm. I do know that many of the seats were altered after market, much as today, to suit the owner. The Limited ' did not do a lot of any four wheeling as we know it. Yuppies that did not want to shovel there drives mostly. Time and old seats could have produced what you see before you after multiple repairs. Think about it, it was just tight loop carpet after all. Just my $.02

sold them as a kid after college. Been around em all my life. There is a wealth of jeep knowledge on this site. You should have no shortage of valuable brains to pick. Halloween pun
