Help!! Pinging noise

Help!! i have an 84 CJ7 , AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l I6. I bought it a few months ago and have done a little work on it. What I did is change plugs wires and tried to adjust timming. What is going on is I have a constant pinging and loss of power. everything is original and I have been going through and changing out the vacumn hoses and little things like this. the timming is set at 8 BTDC. I have tried every octane fuel and no difference. I am at a loss of what to do. Can anyone help me.

I would double-check the timing and adjust it down to about 5 degrees.
