Help with a hodgepodge jeep

Here goes, Upon further research on my jeep (code name "Frankenstein")... It is titled as a 1974 CJ5 , according to manufacture specs it has a 1976 tub, hood, and windshield on it (I know the tub has been replaced). It has a "replacement VIN" issued from Indiana that gives me no information when I research it, other than it was titled as a 1974. I am having a very difficult time finding parts for a '74, however '76 and newer parts are prolific. Is there a large difference between the '74 and newer other than the body? Specifically, right now I am in need of a manual steering box mount plate. Any and all information on this matter will be greatly appreciated. I love a challenge, but this ones starting out a bit rough. Summer is commin' and I need to get rollin'.

I have a 72... It falls into the 72 ~75 category... I know how hard it can be to find parts, I may have an old bracket laying around - I'll look when I get home...

Are you trying to change to a different gearbox?

I don't have any particular place, but I have learned to adapt many non Jeep parts over the years (as most CJ owner have). There are many parts that interchange between 27~75 and earlier or later CJ's... They may need just a tweak here or there but usually it's a minor item.

You didn't state if you are completely missing the bracket... Where did it go?

The bottom of the three mounting ears is broken, I welded it once but it broke again quickly.

I looked all over my shop, I must have given the bracket away. Sorry about that.

What did you weld the bracket with? DO you have any professional welding shops where you live? Might be worth the $40 or so bucks to have them do it...
