Hello, I'm new to this forum and owning a CJ. Today, I replaced my turn signal cam in my 76 as it was broken and when I put everything back together, my horn doesn't work. I tested the horn itself and it works just fine. All the copper points seem to be in place. The only part I had remaining was a copper retaining pin (about 1/4" long) and I have no idea where that goes. Could that be it? I've also replaced the horn switch and still nothing. I don't think there is anything else to replace. I'm running out of ideas and anything would be helpful. Thanks!

the FSM has a half decent assembly drawing, hope this helps.

check these......if screws too tight....no horn or horn all the time.....the other has brittle plastic....make surre you havent broke it

sorry the silver tit at the 10 o'clock position is the horn.......the next pic is where it hooks to

Umm, Yep, that's it. ;) A missing part in the horn circuit isn't a good thing. Check the diagram and put it where it belongs... :) All the copper pieces are needed to complete the circuit.

Is the little horn button supposed (in image 2) to protrude from the steering wheel plate? Mine is flush and the horn doesn't work unless I short out that button with a screwdriver.

yes it is spring loaded....go to ACE they should have those drawers of screws, bolts, and misc small parts...match up diameter ( but get both light and medium spring) you can cut length through trial and error and maybe spend $3 to $4......that has worked for me before.....let us know if that does it for you....but im thinking there is something else missing from the cam.....tomorrow if i get a chance i will disect mine and post it for ya

Is the button supposed to stick up enough so that it touches the flat spring plate? I'll try to hit ACE Hardware tomorrow and pick up some spring options. Thanks for the hint, I'll let you know how it turns out!

yep its a momentary switch thats the begining

or instead of doing all that i will look in my steering column parts see if i got one ( which i think i do )......ship it to ya

I got it sorted out. I stretched the spring a little bit and all is well. Thanks for helping! Tom
