Hi all, purchased a 1981 Jeep CJ7 Renegade a couple of weeks ago. Its in pretty good shape, but a bit of a FrankenJeep to be certain. An engine swap has been done meaning it now has a Chevy 350. It has been converted to an Automatic from a manual Transmission , and is using the B&M Automatic Megashifter (found that on Quadratec website). BUt from there, I'm struggling to figure out exactly which Transmission it is running as well as the rest of the drivetrain. I'm just wondering if there are simple ways for me to identify what transfer cases and differentials and Transmission are in my jeep? I'm also trying to figure out which type of lift kit is being used, as it is running 33" tires, and has a 1" lift on the shackles, but I think it would've needed more to get these tires underneath. It doesn't look like a body lift (spacers) so I suspect it actually has a suspension lift.

I'm really just trying to take stock of what is existing before moving forward with the rebuild.

Any thoughts would sure be appreciated. I can start taking pictures of stuff, but wondered if there might be some things I should be looking for, or where there might be markings on Transmission , differential, etc that might point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

The quickest way to figure things out would be to take a bunch of pictures and post'em right here. Remember a picture is worth a thousand words.

:agree: is your auto a 3 speed or a 4 speed?
