How do I know if my 5 is lifted?

How do I know if my 5 is lifted?
I have a dream!

It's all in my head right now. When I get my beloved 72 finished I'm gonna start looking... And building!

Compare the stock height on this chart with what you have.
If your stock tires are 29" and you have 31's, that is 2" divided by two=1" gain + what ever lift you may have. The height is from the floor to the top of the windshield. This may get you within 1" depending on the pressure in the tires, a little sag in the springs etc.

Just a question, but what year is that chart for? I know they lengthened the wheelbase around '72 to install the I-6 engines, but I thought the earlier CJs were closer to 80" wheelbase?

EDIT, yea I thought so.
According to this:http://earlycj5.com/tech/general/spottersGuide.php
The Early (Short 81 inch wheel base) CJ5 was manufactured from 1954 through 1971

'72 thru '83 had the 83" WB.

Its a good chart, but not entirely accurate...

The chart is for the "later" CJ5 's.
The early CJ5 and CJ4 (1951) had an 81" wheelbase; 54-71.

Since "cdlongjr" has an 83 CJ5 , I figured the chart would be applicable to him.
Maybe I should have explained more- my fault.

No problem, I just didnt want the chart to get confusing to others (with earlier Cjs) when they see it on the documents section.

I have been wondering the same thing about my CJ5 . I am still trying to figure out exactly what it is. titled as a 1960 willys, looks from other pictures I have seen to be in that era. it has a Chevy 350, and a GM 4speed, as well as the GM power steering. I know by the bushings that is has a 1" body lift, I will be checking the springs tomorrow. I know that it was completely redone in 1976 somewhere around Cincinnati, Ohio,(painted on the back, and it has a custom made roll cage and bumpers by some one named "Ruck"? with the front bumper having a 2" receiver. I am buying from my brother in law for $2600, it needs a lil tlc, like the headlights, I just got them working today, and it has no flashers. One more question for you all, I am getting a hard top with it, but I went to put it on to see if it fits, and it looks to be about 6" to long, is it for a newer cj then?
OK I guess that is enough for my first post here.:)

Welcome to the site Chuck! :chug:

Do your springs have and anti friction pads between the leafs? How wide are they? How may leafs are in the spring pack? What size tires are on it? How much clearance do the tires have? All these questions will help determine if it's lifted or not. If someone went to all the trouble to drop in an aftermarket engine I'm betting there is a lift kit on it also...

And, can you take a picture? A side view will help allot also... :)

If it's 6" to long it must be for a later model CJ.

I will get to the measuring later today, and I will try to get a picture as well.
Thank you very much.
Chuck

Ok I have the measurements: front springs are 2" wide, and there are 6 of them; Rears are 2.5"w and there are 4 of them. the tires are 27" high; from the floor to the bottom of the body is 20" below the windshield. 22" at the back if the jeep. I can see it has a 1" body lift, speaking to this where is a good place to get replacement body bushings as the ones in there now are showing there age? The wheel base is 79" and the windshield is 79" wide, is this consistent with a 1960 CJ5 ?
Thank you Chuck

Thank you so much, I got my plates today!!! I am stoked to go give here the maiden voyage home.
