I was just wondering what you guys do for a living to pay for your jeep. Farmer, work in a factory, nuclear chemist?

I'm in college so I work random summer jobs and wheel and deal and live on craigslist ect. Don't have a career yet :chug:

I used to keep it running out of necessity, but it's far easier when it's not your DD.

I quit smoking,:) now I can afford lots of things!:D

I'm a computer nerd with an academic publisher. My CJ isn't my primary vehicle although it could be if needed. I need to be able to get from point A to point B (and home again) more than I need to push it to its limit on the trails. I'm growing into it with time, which isn't easy to do on a tight budget. I'm currently working on adding recovery points and equipment. New seats are also on my short list.

i work at advance auto and money is tight with two kids. when i get a bonus or trade and sell stuff on craigslist is the only time i get to spend money on the jeep. its not my dd though. it my toy.

I work in a pump shop so cash is tight.I do part out Polaris ATV on Ebay for extra cash to put into my toys. Also I traded 2001 Polaris 400 Sportsman even up on my CJ.Put about $700 into the CJ now.:)

The only way I can keep mine going is by doing most of the work and fabing up a lot of parts myself.

I had my first CJ in college and fixed it with used parts myself or scraped what I could up to keep it running, learned allot about car repair that's the great thing about CJ's they are not as complicated like the new Jeeps. Got married sold it, had 4 kids, finally bought my current one 20 years later, well worth the wait.

I've worked in construction as a manager for 20 years.

Good luck and keep the faith.:)

im a dump truck driver, not exactly a high paying profession. my jeep is a dd, i sold my last pickup to get it where it is today and make it reliable. i buy small stuff here and there to add to it, and try to save and buy bigger stuff later, or i trade around to get parts or stuff i can fix and sell for jeep money. an old fixer upper you can fix and sell is a great way to make some larger amounts of cash to spend on the jeep.

I sell adult toys and lingerie.

I’m a site manager for a satellite TV company.

I’m on a budget at well. The best advice I can give you is to prioritize what you want to do. When it comes to repairs, make sure you do your homework before you buy parts that don’t fix the problem. The CJ has great aftermarket support; it is very easy to break the bank purchasing things to make it look cool. Just be smart, and have fun.

Thats the job I want!:D
But seriously, buy it cheep or trade for it, do as many repaires yourself as you can, and start slow. If its not a dd then first get it running dependable and make it safe. After that just have fun.

I used to work construction as a seasonal job and it takes a he'll of a man to manage construction for 20 years :chug:
Whenever somebody did something half <-BAD WORD-> I was called on to fix or repair whater was next. I was kind of the extra guy on the site to get random stuff done. I learned everything from pooring concrete to instaling drop in ceilings to speaking Spanish haha
