How do you afford your CJ?

How do you afford your CJ?
I am probably the luckiest of the bunch, I married well. As as a trophy husband I just tell my wife I HAVE to have certain things....

And she's a cutie too! you really are lucky.

I'm an Educator and Coach, so I get chances to earn some extra pay working camps and extra duties. That extra work is the money my wife lets me pour into the CJ. If I can sell an RV we are getting rid of, I will be able to pull off the swap to a LM7 and a new Transmission .

im a waterboy.. i make high quality h2o

I manage an auto repair shop.
We've worked on this ladies Subaru, & CJ7 for years.
She let the Jeep sit for a couple years,& had it towed to our shop.
Snow had colapsed the roof, no crank, no start.
When i gave her an estimate for 500.00 + she said how much more money should i pour into it,& that maybe it's time to let it go.
I offered her 400 bucks for it. She accepted.
When she brought the title she wouldn't accept any money.
Just let me drive it once in awhile she asked. No problem there!!!
Over a year later, i've gone over the Jeep, runs sweet,& i took the lady out for a day of Jeeping. If i was only single i'd........nevermind. ;)
She will never pay for another oil change as long as i'm around.
One of the best gifts i've ever recieved.
That's how i afford my/her CJ.

I like to do my own work - retired; I have the time.

But I save enough on annual tag fees for an antique vehicle to buy the parts I need. In MS, $35 bucks once and never renew, never pay another dime. No smog test (another tax).

But notice, I said THE PARTS I NEED, not the parts I want.

dang our fearless leader, takes care of us in more than one way. thanks for not letting us crash and die :chug:
:) I've been at my job for about 25 years, in this time we have had one (1) incident that resulted in a engine failure... And that was due to a design difficulty.

Fly all you want! I have your butt covered!

CJ!!!! :chug:
