How many qrts of oil?

I just got a 80 CJ7 AMC 304 ....first thing I did was change the oil. I put in 5 qrts. and the dip stick still shows add. I don't want to to over fill it. How many should it hold. Not sure what year the engine is ...but it looks like a factory oil pan.

As far as I know, only 5 quarts. It is possible that the dip stick tube is not seated all the way.

I found a manual.... and it says 5. The tube is loose...so you may be right.
