How to identify new process transmission

I recently inherited a 1980 CJ7 , it has a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l and Im told a New Process manual Transmission from a ford? How do i identify what Transmission it is?

I assume you meant a New Process 435 Transmission . It's an excellent tranny with a granny low 1st.
It's cast iron with an aluminum top held on with 8 bolts. It's 10.8 inches long.

To bolt it up to your TCase they would have needed an adapter.

The bolt pattern on the back of the NP435 has 4 bolts in one of these 2 patterns.
