It will be awhile before I get this far, but how is it done?
I don't mean the outside of the frame, I'll probably do that with a wire brush on an angle grinder.
But what about inside the box frame?

I've been racking my brain for awhile and haven't come up with a good way.

I used an angle grinder as well, with a wire brush for the outside of my frame. I purchased a portable sandblaster from harbor freight, and I'm going to try that on the hard to get to areas.

Right
Thats simple enough, but what I'm wondering is the inside of it, where an angle grinder or sandblasting won't reach.

Even the ends are closed up, the only access is through all the holes in it.

I would hate to strip and repaint the outside, but leave the inside rusting away.

I'd be interested in ideas on this also. My CJ7 frame is rusting away before I will get a chance to work on it. :-(

Some ideas I have seen (or used in this case):
I pressure washed the frame inside and out, letting all the debris fall out the holes. I recommend having your own PW to do this, a pay car wash would be $$$! LOL

I have seen people use hand pressurized garden sprayers to spray chemicals inside the frame to seal it up. I've also seen frames set on a rotisserie, then pouring chemicals in the frame and rotating the frame to spread the chemicals.
I'm sure Eastwood.com has everything we need to seal up a frame. I just haven't looked lately! LOL

Try POR on rust.

I've used a piece of long tubing and a spray head to snake it inside the frame to spray the inside of the frame with POR-15.

All it was is a piece of rubber/vinyl tubing with a crimped piece of copper tube in the end to make it spray. Worked well and I couldn't find a spot not covered looking in all the peep holes.

Next time I'll just remove the bumper/cap and go that route.
