Can anyone point me in the right direction for what My 77 CJ5 might have had for hub caps. I would like to add some bling but stick with the oem rims. Did CJ5 's have a version of baby moons? What style of mags would have been offered if any on a upgrade. :)

Hub caps ...... oh my!

I actually didn't know that jeeps came with hub caps of any kind. But there is an old commercial posted here some where with a jeep bouncing around. Hub caps fell off it and went flying off into space, so by golly there were hub caps available for jeeps.

I have seen some after spending the night surfing. I think a mag could be purchased for the same price as a repop hub cap. guess ill have to do the ebay for a nos set

I think the tux park came with hub caps, did it not? I would think slotted chromes would say 70s pretty loud.

Here is another set. And a picture of the OEM wheel.

Hubcaps? We don’t need no stinking hubcaps! Actually yes, some CJs did come with hubcaps. I’m not sure but I suspect that in some cases they could have been an OEM dealer install part. Early CJs didn’t come with hub lockouts (that’s what made Warn Industries a household name among the Jeep brethren) so something to spruce up the jeep with some bling gave the dealer the chance to pick up a few extra bucks. Early hubcaps were more like a baby moon with the later caps similar to the ones on a Commando. Later some of the body packages used slotted wheels but the picture of the CJs in the front of my 1977 OEM Factory Tech manual show the full coverage caps like the Commando. :chug:

Honestly, I think some of the hubcaps seen on the 1973 Video are sorta' cool looking. If I were fortunate enough to have lots of money laying around I'd have a set of wheels and caps set up just so I could jerk hard core overly testosterone driven gear head jeepers around. Fortunately very few guys here on jeep-CJ.com fit into that category. There is something very appealing about a James Bond type jeep, you know all pretty and smooth on the outside, mean as a junkyard dog on the inside. :)

My Tuxedo Park Park still had the hubcaps when I got it.

If anyone is interested Rob at Willys Works here in Tucson has a full set of Jeep hubcaps in very nice condition of what I believe is/was called moon hubcaps hanging on the wall. He'd sell the set for $200.
