I was replacing the timing chain on my girlfriends 85 CJ7 and forgot ho the darn thing goes on. It is an AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l California with the AC unit removed. If anyone has any pictures of the bracket or could take some it would be much appreciated!

Since no one's ansswered, I hope this helps you. Place the alternator into the bracket, thread the bolts through the holes and snug things down enough to stop alternator from flopping around in the bracket when you pick the two pieces up together.

Carry and place the assembly into the engine compartment, holding it mostly by the alternator, in the vicinity of the other pulleys. Orient the alternator into the approximate position it'd have to be for belt routing. Observe the remaining holes in the bracket. From there, it should become fairly obvious.

If it's not fairly obvious, you might want to bribe friends with beer. :)
