Alright, I have a 1980 AMC 304 and the linkage attachment to the float is broke. Other bracketry is broke or missing from the electronic choke. I've looked for a rebuild kit, but they just supply gaskets and all the other parts I DON'T need. I have tried to fix it myself with tie wire and such, but I am just tired of messing with it. I would like to buy a new carb or convert it to EFI, but everything I've come across is too expensive. If anyone knows what will give me the most bang for my buck your input would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I just realized that I posted in the wrong section. Oh well, I'll try not to lose sleep over it.

Do you have a 4bbl manifold? If so, I have found the Holley truck avenger series is a good off-road carb. Otherwise you may be best with a rebuilt 2bbl for an inexpensive replacement to get it back on the road or trail.

Honestly, the factory Motorcraft is hard to beat. Just get a remanufactured one from the parts store and turn your current one in as a core. That's the cheapest and easiest route to go.

If you want to drop a fair amount of cash, you can swap to a 4bbl carb. An Edelbrock Performer intake is an acceptable choice but there are other manifolds out there that would work better. Trouble is, they're out of production. If you can find an Edelbrock SP2P or a Holley Avenger manifold, they work really well on a AMC 304 . They pop up on FleaBay once in a while. Once you get the manifold, a 470CFM Holley Truck Avenger would be a great carb to use on the AMC 304 .
