Hi all,

I've lurked here for a while, but I finally bought a project CJ and have just stumbled accross my first head-scratcher that I can't seem to figure out myself, so I was hoping you fine folks could help me. In reading threads on this forum, you guys really seem to know what's what on your CJ's.

Anyway, I suspect my ignition lock is busted. I got my CJ running a few weeks ago, and I was going through one of my regular start-ups to keep things flowing when my key went *click*, passed the "start-up" position, and had to be forced back with no spring-back action. I figure it must be my ignition lock.

I took it all apart, got the blinker assembly out, and am now looking at the stage where I think I should be able to slide my lock out. I don't seem to have a retaining screw, but my lock won't slide out, in any turn position. I heard that maybe there is a retaining clip or something I have to compress with a screwdriver, but I've be jamming my screwdriver into the supposed slot and still no luck.

I'm pretty much at the end of my rope here. Any suggestions? (FYI, I have the plastic housing)

Holy quick reply!

Thanks for the link, I hadn't read that. Now i'm concerned that when I turned my key past the "start" point, that the rod that the sector is connected to may have slipped out of it's retainer, if that's possible. Itdoesn't seem to be springing back.
