My ignition sh.t the bed. My jeep has a 80's tilt wheel w/GM key. Do I need to pull the steering wheel, or someone said I need to work from the bottom of the steering colum? I have been down there before doing some wiring and have never seen anything down there which I could replace / repair to do with the ignition.
Any help suggestions would be appreciated

The switch itself is located on the top of the column about 8 or 10 inches forward of the key switch. I, personally, would not think of replacing the switch with the column in the jeep or at very least with out removing the dash. You would need an extra elbow in the center of your for arm hands and arms the size of a 10 year old girl and eyes on stocks. Good luck.

oh I finally got it apart, it was mounted between the bracket that supports the brake and clutch assembly between the dash and fire wall and the steering column. Ad to remove all the steering column supports etc and let it hang down in order to get the one upper mounting screww. So much work for a $ 20 part, It looks like 50"s technology. So hopefully can get things back together tomorrow. Thanks god I can take my seat out easily or getting under there would be impossible, and I am a small guy
