Went to help a buddy align a CJ5 body on a customer of his tonight (project) anyway's bla, bla, bla. The puzzeling part is that the frame is a 76ish, yes fully boxed and the donar body a early to mid 70's, no big deal. the question that I have is this body had NO cut out for the blower motor or any heater lines etc., plus what I found stranger is it didn't even have the big drain tube hole and no place for the emergency brake to bolt. Yes it a steel body and it has been well used. But it had none of the above. What did this come off of ? I'm curious to know.

Sounds like an aftermarket body that was never worked in.

When I bought my aftermarket body (steel) all those holes were missing... :) They needed to be added.

All CJ replacement bodies (no matter who sells them) come from the same manufacturer, a company in the Philippines ( at least if my memory serves me correct)...

They are crude to say the least..

I bought mine from http://www.willysoverland.com/index.php/WO/replitub/ , hey take the 'stuff' that is provided by the only metal CJ tub producer and make it fit...

Since I beleive you already have an aftermarket body, you just need to make it work... Shouldn't be to hard to get the components your missing mounted! :)

I have heard of older Jeeps having a heater delete option from the factory. There was a CJ6 in Jp awhile back that had it.

So CJ IYO you are saying the metal tubs are not that good? the reason I ask is down the road I plan to put a new body on the Jeep. You know the question here LOL What is the diffrence pro's and con's of the two. I got the obviose the price but aside from that what is the better route to go? Or maybe I should start a thread on this one LOL

Kinda - metal tubs use the factory dies and stamps - they just don't get the added factory touch anymore...

All metal tubs - either from Quadratec or 4WD or Willies Overland come from the same company (located in the Philippines). They kinda fit and kinda have the correct mounts / holes / other stuff. I chose to buy my replacement tub from Willys-Overland Motors : Repli-Tubs because they correct the majority of the problems of the replacement tubs before they sell them.

LOL always one step ahead..... That was a good read, so you went steel, have you installed it yet? or atleast looked at it, I am while of from doing one but always good to be planing ahead

I have pulled it out and checked all the dims that really matter between my old tub and my new one. They match.

One of the things about getting a custom tub is that you can specify what you do and don't want. I got my 72 tub with a 76 and up parking brake mount (easier to find), no electrical cutouts in the firewall (I'm using an after market harness), speedo cable moved slightly for engine clearance, throttle cable hole changed for the one I run and a few other things (did I want heater openings?)...

One thing, Jeep had all kinds of spot welds showing on the original tubs - you will get the same thing from these... :( If you don't want that then you have to do the body work! :)
