Hi all,

Pulled the trigger on an 81CJ7 with the Iron Duke. The PO had the engine and Transmission rebuilt a few years ago before he ran out of time / $ and I'm picking up where he left off.

PO told me it has timing and vacuum issues but there's plenty more that needs to be done. For example in the attached picture...I have no idea. It looks like these wires were cut from the fire wall but I have no idea where they're supposed to be connected and/or what purpose they serve. Even if I had a wiring diagram (which I don't) I wouldn't know where to begin. There are random canisters and tubes disconnected and I'm trying to get a bearing on where they go as well.

Does anyone have any advice on where to start and how to figure out where these wires go?

Much appreciated

Assuming the engine runs, all the gauges work, and all the front lights work, the only idea I have is that those wires were for the computer controlled carb that was on some models with the 2.5L engine. And just to nitpick, the engine is made by Pontiac. Later versions of which wound up the the Fiero and S-10/S-15 trucks. Not related to the Chevy Iron Duke.

Being that I have a wiring harness from a 1980 Buick Regal. I would say they look like tail light wires. Are there 4 wires?

Sorry about the delay on this. There are 4 wires but all of the lights work without them. I'll keep searching...
