It has the original I6, 5 speed manual tranny and I know nothing about transfer case and diffs..
If someone is reading this please send me a message about how to figure out these things and I will get it straight
So I love my CJ7 its already in my mind that I will never let go of this dream vehicle. That being said I read through build threads and dream about a teardown and rebuild (mine is in too good of shape to tear apart).
Because of this I'm always searching facebook marketplace and Craigslist and copart for deals on something I could turn into a long term project.
I got the closest to doing such recently and thought it was worth sharing. A 1978 CJ7 Levi (Edition) edition showed up on copart in San Diego. I was born in 78 so always wanted a vehicle as old as me (my cj is an 82). My dog Levi (Edition) just passed away 2 weeks ago, he made it to 16 years old and was a great companion (pic attached). That was the real kicker... I was extremely emotional from the loss of my pup that I jumped through hurdles to bid on it.......
Ultimately I lost out on this jeep as it ended up going for more than I was willing to pay for a teardown project however I haven't given up on doing such but wanted to share.
