I have 78 jeep CJ5 with a T-150 three speed. I am thinking of replacing my older headers with the factory exhaust manifolds.
I am trying to get a completely bolt in setup so that everything can be easily removed.
I am thinking of getting the following.

Amazon.com: Walker Exhaust 40376 Y-Pipe

then also these manifolds:
Amazon.com: Omix-Ada 17622.09 Left Hand V8 Exhaust Manifold Kit: Automotive

Amazon.com: Omix-Ada 17622.1 Right Hand V8 Exhaust Manifold Kit: Automotive

trying to figure out if this will fit my setup and also if anyone has any experience doing what Im trying to do...

More than likely it will my 79 had manifolds and y pipe it should run down the left side on the y pipe. On the tranny mount there is or used to be a bracket for a converter to attatch from the factory. But as long as the manifolds dump at the rear you should be ok thats how mine were the area where where the pipes go up to the manifolds on the left the clutch linkage maybe a little funny to deal with but other than that i beleive your good.

Thanks for the response. Was yours a CJ5 with a V8?

I just did the same thing with a 78. I used the Edelbrock shorty headers which have the same configuration for matching up with the crossover pipe. Bought a kat with the 4 bolt flange and the rest is easy. Edelbrock recently discontinued the non-emmission shorty headers but there are still a few out there. Makes for any easy bolt-in installation.

thanks for the reply. Have any videos on youtube of your setup?

No you-tube but there is a pic under "Headers" thread. Crossover pipe comes out on driver's side just past Transfer Case pan with lots of room to work. Kat was EMI 10131 found on ebay for $93. No air tube and good quality.

Do you remember what cat you got? Part number?

Ended up going with the ypipes and manifolds from factory. Worked perfectly.
