HOWDY. Am starting to tear apart and repair a 73 CJ5 and put back on the road. Found a good engine to replace the stuck AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , and a replacement tranny. Am wondering about body removal from frame. Any advice. The floor in seat area is shot as well as sub floor. Fender area has holes, sides and rear floor are maybe OK, tailgate area is bad. Seems like a majority of it is OK. How difficult is it to remove entire body??? :notworthy:

Not hard at all but is a bit of work for sure. You just have to start unbolting everything. What I do is take and baggy or box groups of items and label acordingly, it makes reassembling easier to not have to sort through a big pile of bolts. Also take pics of things before and as you take them apart for later reference. Good luck!

I agree keep things grouped together and lots and lots of pics. It might be a while before you put it back together.

If your planning on keeping the jeep for awhile you might as well do things right. Inspect your body mounts on my 73cj5 a few of them were shot. You can make new ones fairly easy. Good luck 73's were a great year!

I will follow your recommendations and advice. Am looking forward to this long project. Will need to wait for better weather as it is snowing alot recently. I like the Jeep Acronym. Just empty every pocket. Thank you all.
