T-18 question I have a jeep T-18 with the 1” spacer plate and bell housing will this fit as is in my CJ7 ? I keep reading I need a short input shaft and different bell housing but I am getting confused as if it will fit as is
Are you sure it's a Jeep CJ T-18 ? They are pretty hard to find. Sounds like you have a Ford T-18 that has been modified for CJ use. Can you post some pictures?
Here some from my V8 swap.
I bought this from a guy for $200 came with a Dana 20Transfer Case I think this is an early cj T-18 ? I believe I read some where that the early cj T-18 had a 1” spacer plate between Transmission and bell housing and that the full size jeeps (trucks and so forth) had a 4 or 5” tunnel for the input shaft. I am not sure if this will fit behind a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l or if the length of the engine is too much.
The shaft length is gonna be the issue. Looks like it may have come out of a FSJ...those had varying input shaft lengths with varying adapters and bell housing depths to match.
Plenty of options to mate one with a GM motor...far fewer for the CJ platform
Novak at one time offered a shortened shaft and retainer for the 6.32...not sure there's an option for the 4.02
It’s a 6.3 ish granny pooped the top and counted the drive teeth so I can get a new shaft. Just trying to fit see if I can get away from changing stuff around
Yep, the input shaft length for your CJ should be close to 7".
If you don't mind some work it can be changed to the correct length.
If you notice in this image (while not applicable to your year and engine) this shows the difference between the T-15 and the T-18 72 CJ bellhousing height. Different year / engine combos require specific hardware.
We would love to get you into a great T-18 .
