Jeep with 304 has surging issues Help please.

Hey everyone this is my first post on the forums! I have an issue that started randomly a couple of weeks ago and I have done everything I can think of to fix it.

I have a 1980 Jeep CJ7 with a AMC 304 V8 and I it started this weird surging one day. I will be sitting there at idle and it will surge from 1600 to 1900 RPM's randomly about evbery two seconds. It's got a Holley 4160 carb. Here is what I've done to try and fix the issue but non of this has solved it.

Took apart the carburetor, cleaned everything so it practically looks brand new.

changed the spark plugs

checked for vacuum leaks

changed the rotor on the distributor

changed the fuel filter

adjusted the idle screw and the air to fuel mixture ratio

So far nothing has worked on trying to fix this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

how did you adjust the mixture?
I had the same problem and I used a vacuum gauge to set the mixture. Also
I went to an HEI setup and that helped alot with any type of sputter and hiccup in cruise
