Occasionally I see posts in which people refer to finding Jeep parts in wrecking yards. In the part of the world I live in (West Texas), you are about as likely to find a complete pristine condition 427 Shelby Cobra sitting in a salvage yard as you are a Wrangler or CJ. In 30+ years of rummaging through the yards here I have never seen one. I have seen a couple of Waggy's and a J10 once, but that is it. Who lives in an area where there are a bunch of Jeeps in ordinary wrecking yards (not specialty yards like Collins Brothers, etc.)?

Just curious,
Dave

I was in one yesterday and grabbed a handle for the window regulator for my 77.
I also saw 2 yjs
I see more CJ's then I do FSJ, not many of those around here
If you find a CJ in a Northeast BY'd it is totally rotted out frame, and body.
The BY"d never crushes a CJ until it is thoroughly picked clean
There not plentiful, but can be found
I suspect more CJs are in northeast BY'd because of the rust that gets to them sooner then dryer climates
I would suspect you would find more CJs on the road in dryer climates then you would in the Northeast as well.

Never seen one here

We have a salvage yard a few miles from us that has nothing but vehicles from the 30s through the 80s. Most vehicles are 50s through 70s. There are a fair amount of J's, Wagoners, Cherokees, and several CJ's. I could spend all day there just window shopping (and have done just that several times) Some of the vehicles have been there so long that there are mature trees growing up through the engine bay!

I'm with you on this one..... our local pick-n-save even has a couple boats - but have never seen anything even resembling a CJ / YJ.

Never mind junk yards, where I live I never see another CJ period. I'm on my 4th 7 and haven't passed another in a year and a half.

I don't see many these days either. But there are a few around getting worked on and are hidden in garages. I mainly see them on Craig list. Some over $ 20 K

No CJs or Willeys in the Junk yards around here. Most of them that hasn't been crushed are in private hands. I have several myself.
