76-86 Jeep CJ5 /7 One of the Worst Jeeps Ever Made..

At least that is what JP Magazine thinks. In thier March 2011 issue, which I just got today, they have a article on the "10 Worst Jeeps Of All Time..."

On the list

Compass
Patroit
76-86 CJ5 /CJ7
63-65 IFS Wagoneer
M-175
84-86 V6 XJ
Liberty KJ
Just about any Pre-71 FSJ
87-90 Six Cylinder Wrangler
Commander

Then they went on to list uglyest jeeps

On that list

CJ3b
72-73 Commando
Foward Control
TJ Tomb Raider edition
Liberty
Commander
Patroit / Compass
Early woodie XJ's
YJ Renegade

ah now I remember why I didn't renew a few years back.

10 Best Jeep of All Time:

'72-'75 CJ5 & 6
'74-'79 J10 shortbed
'86 CJ7
'06-'10 SRT8 WK
'00-01 XJ
'05-'06 TJ Unlimited Rubicon
'00-'04 TJ
'98 5.9L ZJ Limited
'49-'53 CJ3a
Any '07-Present JK

Just reminds me to nost waste the money on that rag, Cappa ran it into the ground and whoever took over is obviously following in his footsteps, way to go assclowns, might as well change the name from JP Magazine to JK magazine

Saddest thing is when I dumped that mag years back they had just about the same article running.

The BIGGEST problem is they compare new technology VS older technology without factoring the reasons why older technology JUST works, and still works. :)

All they see is selling magazines to the new people with money to spend.

I think you hit the nail on the head CJ.Its all about the buck.

A good lift kit for a JK costs more than my cj did.

There's my two cents on some writer trying to make Toyota and Hummer fans happy

I am surprised that JP wrote anything that someone didn't pay them for. You must admit it is one of the better written catalogs available.
just the fact that some of us are discussing what they think is what they live for.
So just so they will know I am thinking of them, they can kiss my 1977 CJ5 back end in the deepest darkest nook or cranny.

It's bad when a 4x4, sport utility mag (petersons) has more jeep stuff than the freakin jeep mag.
I owned one of those "worst" and it was one of my fav tough as nails jeep!

I've met a couple of those dorks and they know dammit about jeeps other than what they read or learn for an article.
They told my cousin he had a nice jeep but why keep the stock axels?!? My cousins reply: Yeah those cut down 60's came with the jeep from the factory jackass!

:laugh: The last one of their mags I read and unfortunately bought has 3 count them 3 interior installs in 1 issue  WTF how hard is it to install seats that your advertiser sent you?????? And why do I want to read about it 3 times in one issue?????

unfortunately we are an exclusive and dwindling breed. Our vehicles dont have the cushy ride, updated technologies, etc that newer vehicles have...which is what the majority of the public wants.

And along with the vehicles, offroading has changed over the years. What used to be seen as the core of 4x4ing...the ability to fix something easily and quickly even on the trail...is no longer important.
Now it's :trailer it in, bash the hell out of it, and trailer it back to a shop to have someone else fix it because it's to complicated to fix yourself.

New and shiny is in. Old, reliable, and serviceable is out. And that's what the magazines target.

I have noticed that we have not had anyone in here proclaiming that they absolutely can't show there face out of doors with out the latest hardware that JP ragazine is pushing this month. We must be attracting a better class of Jeeper.

If I wanted all of the fancy bells and whistles, I would take my Grand Cherokee that I'm scared to open the hood on because I don't know what anything does. I bought my CJ7 because it is simple, and fun to work on, and has years of tradition.

That was the biggest appeal of a jeep to me.
Open the hood, "Hey look it's an engine and there are the spark plugs!"
Not "Where the hell are the plugs, no plugs?!?! coil packs?!?!"
