I always wonder why people shy away from the low gearing.

With my SM465 , Dana 300 4 to 1 conversion and 3.54 gears I can push my AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l to 5000 rpms and be doing 139 mph.

Another note on 4:1 xfercase gearing, and I could be a little outdated on this, but the Lomax gearset is reputed as stronger than the Terra kit. At one point, it was even cheaper...but that was when I first saw them hit the market.

I think Im going to shuffle a Lomax kit into my future plans.....I want to keep the 4.10's in the axles for now.

I'd say probably the best money I've ever spent on my jeep was my chevy TBI setup I put on the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . No more carb to deal with.
