Vintage South Padre Island Jeepin’Vintage Flight!
While digitally thumbing through archival images from Motor Trend magazine, we came across some cool vintage wheeling action shots by ace photographer Bob D’Olivo from October 1956. What first caught our attention was one of our favorite types of vintage Jeep shots, early sheetmetal soaring through the air without a care. Apparently, the South Padre Island Jeep Jamboree event had many attractions, including a Jeep broad-jump competition. Check out that vintage air! We are betting there was a vintage “Ooof!” on that vintage landing. The record for the longest jump of the 1956 Jeep Jamboree was a whopping 23 feet, 8 inches! Safety first.
