Just had the T-5 rebuilt and they were showing me the Transmission mounts and clutch linkage (needed attention) and I noticed pink fluid. I asked what type of fuild they used and he said ATF. He said that is what they take. He did a master rebuild and it shifts 10 time better than before but I am thinking I should replace the fluid with Syncromesh manual tranny fluid. Or, is ATF on the rebuild fine. He is a very well known Transmission rebuilder but not a Jeep T-5 pro.

Your thoughts?

I've heard of people claiming that's what they used but I've never seen it officially recommended anywhere. I have mine apart (T-4 ) right now and am putting Pennzoil Syncromesh back in it.
You'll never get a decisive answer to this question. It's a common debate.

From what I have heard, originally AMC did state to use atf but that was changed later on to gear oil.
