WANTING TO BUY A CJ7
Was thinking about installing some off road lights on a windshield mount of some sort. So they are above the windshield. Problem would be clearance getting into garage. Any Ideas how to do this where they could be lowered\Raised for garage entry?

I've gotta say this. If you are doing any real off road driving you won't want your lights above the windshield. Tree branches have a tendency to beat the heck out of most anything sticking up above the wind shield. If you need lights that are high up, look at the brackets that attach to the sides of the windshield. I suppose they would be susceptible to side swiping damage, but generally you are more aware of obstacles down in the drivers line of sight.

Every time I see a big tall shinny 4 wheeler with all the good stuff AND about a million candle power sitting on a nice high rack on top about all I can think of is ....... Wanna be mud hippie.

X2 about NOT above the hood level. Dust will blind you. My off road lights are on top of the bumper, towards the center.
BTW-Ck where KC is made-;)

The higher light are nice for camp chores and pulling the skin off a coyote/deer/bear/Elk and other critters. As lumpy said, Not for driving. I turn my side lights out to catch the woods and fill blind spots. Besides, if I'm going to see "Bigfeets" lighting up the woods is necessary.

I agree with these guys. I ran a light bar for a few years and removed it. not only was it a hindrance for clearance, they would light up the hood making visibility awkward.
Like LG, I have 2 aircraft lights on my bumper on either side of the winch.

:agree:also you get way to much glare with them up high I think they work much better mounted on the front.

In the picture of my Jeep are 2, 1977 Per-Lux SS 'fog-lights'. I replaced the bulbs with special(12vdc instead of 24vdc)DC-9 nose-gear landing lights.
They do the job very well. :D

I find they work best at the bigger malls.....

Those are what I use. They light up the world

You can have someone make you a set like these old ConFerr's, as I haven't seen any similar in a long time. Mount them so the top is just below your top that way they fit in a garage. And having them up high they do NOT throw a glare on the hood like the lower mounted hinge type. These are KC 6" lights.

JerseyJeeps had reproductions made of the lightbars that came on the Jamborees. They fold back so you can face the lights forward with the windshield frame down.

I hate lightbars. Glare off the hood is horrible, but if you want one, I think CARR made one that folded down, and you can look at the one's JerseyJeeps had made here.
