Hi
I want to know if the krylon rust protector preventive enamel good or not? and rustoleum universal matte spray paint?
thanks

Krylon paint is :dung:. It doesnt stick well and its hard to get an even coat. I just used their satin white for my hard top interior and I am not happey with it. I would use rustoleum for metal surfaces and plastic, vinyl, or fiberglass i'd use sem brand.

I would use Rustoleum over Krylon on metal. I do find Krylon to be excellent on plastic however. Not sure why ThisGuy had a problem, but...

some of the brands of paints (and other goods) that are bought at retailers (Wal-Mart for instance) are not/may not be the same formula as ones from Ace or other stores. Some big retailers have pricing agreements that force a 'made-for-Wal-Mart' type of cost-cutting and many products (Brand Names) are NOT the ORIGINAL QUALITY or formula, in order to make the price cut.

You can verify this with a little research or direct product comparison...(pay attention to the disclaimer (Made exclusively for Wal-Mart/K-Mart/etc.)

Like motor oil discussions, paint threads can become religious discussions. I don't mind Krylon at all. I think with any rattle can paint, thin coats are best and coverage quality varies with temp / time / color / prep / etc. I really love the Krylon Dual.

That said, there's nothing wrong with Rustoleum either.

Used this stuff.. dont plan on touching the finish, holds grease. cure time is long. I used it on some steel grid, behind my grill with one coat of primer and two enamel. its chipped.

I usually have a can of Rustoleum paint somewhere in my jeep. Adheres really well to even untreated metal surfaces. Definitely recommended!

Your autobody supplier will carry the best paints and anti rust paints available. The supplier I buy from can actually mix oem colors and put it in a spray can.

I rattle-canned my Jeep 11 years ago using Krylon and have never had any problems. It covered great, no problems with chipping or anything like that.

The one issue that I have ran into is color fade over time. I used the flat camo with no sealer (clear coat) and it has started fading over the past few years. I guess I would expect that though. But being a camo pattern, it really doesn't matter.

I used Rustoleum on my hard top and it worked well...but again, faded over time.

Like with any paint though, it's all in the prep work. I like rustoleum, but only if I have a lot of time to wait for it to dry. And I mean a lot of time...

Thats true rustoleum really does take a long time to dry,
