Lap Belts and Kids

Lap Belts and Kids
JSWatson I see you have a 79 CJ, There are two different types of roll bars used in this year. 1:the front hoop comes up from the floor and 2:both hoop and back bars are on the back wheel hub because they changed it in mid 79. Now if you have the style that has the hoop from the floor (which it looks like you do) then a YJ bar is a simple bolt in bar and you can then use the shoulder bar for the little ones.

I just learned something new. Is this for both CJ5 and 7 or just the 7?

Both.... oh and for those who want a 3 point shoulder harness for the front:
From another board by mbalbritton "I drilled a hole all the way through both walls of the roll bar, and bolted through the entire bar."

thats a bad idea unless you drill one side a little bit bigger and put a piece of thick-wall tube into the bar, before putting the bolt thru the hole. This will reinforce the tube so it does not collapse when you tighten the nut down.

If you use a good grade 8 bolt to mount it to the bar it should be ok, Heck of a lot better then just a lap belt and just one of many options:)

Why to go into a debate, whether it is safe or not. Just put on the lap belt to ensure the safety. Why to take any chance.
The debate is to how safe a lap belt is for children...
