- 1979 Cj-7 AMC 304 w/ 3 spd manual, Tremec T150, Dana 20. All stock, no mods
I stopped by to pick up a Chilton/Haynes Manual and there was a sign that reads "50% off all repair manuals." The manuals are at the front counter, so I stepped over to the register and asked the girl the date and told her b/c the manuals are on sale staring the 26th and I don't know the date (I've been on leave for the past 2 weeks.) She stepped around and said "hmm, it's for those books, but it may be something else, we'll ring it up and see." Being that we were standing at register and the sale sign, I jokingly said, "well if they aren't on sale, I'm bringing the sign up to the register b/c it says half off." She looked at me and said, "No, the sign says 50% off"....My reply, "Yeah, 50% IS half" So, she proceeds to ring it up says "13.50, is that 50%?" Told her, close enough, paid and left.
My 2 take aways from this little story:
1. The person behind the counter at your local parts store may not always be the brightest or most knowledgeable.
2. If you don't already have or need a new Haynes/Chilton, get to Pep Boys and get a new one for 50%, but not HALF OFF.
