Looking at a expanded view it says it has shims. Is not a gasket? And why are there shims there?
Have you ck'd the bolts to see if they are 'tite'?

Ck the oil level to be sure it isn't over filled.Yes they are tight
It's overfilled. There should be no stream of oil. Barely a drip. Oil should be even with the threads on the hole, or slightly below.I took plug out and quite a bit of fluid came out. It's in my garage which is pretty level. I let it drain for about 30 seconds until it was a weak stream coming out.

So pull the plug again and let it drain until nothing comes out?
It looks like the back plate on my Dana 300 seeps fluid. I've never taken it off so I'm not sure what is there. Looking at a expanded view it says it has shims. Is not a gasket? And why are there shims there?
You may be getting transfer of oil from tranny to transfer. Check your tranny, is it low?
Wooly
Before reassembly and tightening down, I coated every contact surface with PRIME SEAL aviation sealant.
D/300 is a stand alone t'case and any oil leakage from the tranny will drain out and not enter the t'case.
The D/20 t'case is notorious for this oil transfer deal from the tranny.
