First time poster. Recently saw a CJ7 lengthened to a 4 door. Is this a very complicated and expensive mod? I like the fact that you can move driver seat back further than wheel well and the overall look was cool. Anyone here ever attempted and/or completed this mod? Thanks in advance for any comments or advice on this subject.

Do you have a picture. I was just contemplating what that would look like last night. I was thinking it would be cool if the CJ5 door were made to work as the back door.

AEV was doing this years ago with CJ's and YJ's (TJ's weren't out yet)
As their shop was right up the road from me, I saw a few here and there driving around town.

I believe they were stretching the frame as well as the body, and adding wheelbase. What they came up with is similar to the JK....and Im pretty sure AEV worked with DC to develop the 4-door swb Jeep.

Thought this guy was just joking until I saw your replies . Was thinking why not just get an 8... So this is a real mod? Got a pic, Dain?

I have two different ones on the home computer. I'll post them when I get home tonite. I ran out of time this morning

There was one posted to my local forum and I looked last night. Did not find it. I will try again.

The green one above is one of the ones I had saved. I have a pretty nice black one with doors and a hardtop as well

Here is the one from the June Bantam show that I was referring to. Look at the work put into the doors. Not just slapping on a second set of front doors.

looks to me like they pulled the 7 body and hacked it right behind the door to form a b-pillar then grafted on a 5 tub from the front of the door frame (approximately the hinges back) then put a tailgate/bed of appropriate proportions then simply (lol) stretched the frame to fit

Next it will be one made into a Limo ;)

Yeah, this one isn't so bad. Was sorry I asked while looking at the green & yellow ones... Like the Scrambler, this thing needs a top to look right. Huh, Pete ;-)

I think if I had so much time one my hands to do something like this, I'd probably do something else....

I understand stretching it back to get the doors, but the widening is insane. I wonder how many.jeeps that took.

Thats the best looking one Ive seen. Theres alot of work in that to get a top and doors on it. It doesnt look butchered or cobbled together. I actually like this one.

If I wanted a Suburban, I think I'd buy a Suburban. A 13 bar jeep makes me shutter. I do appreciate the workmanship though.

I can understand the stretching... the adding width not so much. :barf:
