Hey everyone I have a slight problem. I have an 82 CJ7 that the PO installed an AMC 360 and a T-176 . While putting the jeep back together from a frame off restore I noticed that linkage for the clutch is hitting the frame. The part that is hitting the frame is the tube that is in between the rod from the pedal and the clutch. It bolts to the bell housing with two bolts and has an adjustable link for clutch play. Sorry new here and don't know how to add pics just yet. Has anyone come across this issue yet, and what have you done to solve it? Thanks

The gold linkage is not stock but this basically how the linkage is connected.

That looks like a modified bellcrank from 72 up til they went hydraulic. Somebody welded a tab on kinda funny.

Looking at the room you got I'd go hydraulic

on the right side of this pic is the pivot the tube should fit on. Can't that ball ended post fit in the tube? There should also be plastic bushings in the ends of the tube. You were saying that tube hits the frame?

Yes, that is the bellcrank, it appears to be all stock nothing modified from what I can tell. And the only way I can fit the pivot in the tube is if I take off one of the mounting bolts on either the pivot mount or the bellcrank mount on the bell housing to angle the tube. If I don't there is too much bind on the frame with the bellcrank to mount up. I'm going to order new clutch linkage kit that has new components ad then see if I can modify this bellcrank and pivot mount to work offset like a crankshaft and see if that will give me the clearance I need. Unless you all have another idea that might work? Thanks everyone

Was a body lift ever done to this jeep?
With a body lift you have to use a plate to lower the pivot that is mounted to the body.

No body lift its all suspension lift, the only thing I am tell is that maybe the the transfer lower kit caused the difference to make the bellcrank hit the frame. And I wouldn't be able to lower the pivot mount because that would make it worse. The bell housing where the bellcrank mounts is what needs to come up.
