I am headed down to look at a 1966 CJ6 this weekend. I need another project like a I need a hole in the head, but basically this sounds too interesting to pass up looking at it. I am not bringing the trailer with me, nor cash, so I won't be purchasing it, but I might have enough for a deposit and come back and get it next weekend ;)

He has a ton of stuff apparently, so i am going to see the collection and see what happens.

It supposedly is in good shape and in general I knwo where all the problem areas having 2 CJ5 's, but if anyone has any mroe advice than the normal rust areas on CJ6 's, I am always open to suggestions.

My wife is just beyond words with this... she couldn't even get a word out she was so surprised. We are in the middle of redoing the basement, so basically she can't quite figure out where I am getting the money/time to do it... but I keep telling her, I have always wanted a 6... and it is just so cool and different.

When I say cool and different, she hears large, messy and expensive... what is up with the male to female translations these days?

Later... and have some guiness! :chug:

Just tell her you Promise to finish the basement First!;)

Then after you get it.....

The basement is coming along fine... new steel beam is in, that was the hard part... now the rest is all insulation, sheetrock and paint...

Then the Jeep

How do you all do it, I've looked for a decent 6 forever.
Good luck, hope it's a good one and you can get it.:chug:

Sometimes I wonder myself how I get all this done... and I have been working in my real job... A LOT lately... couple that with the little one now being 6.5 months, it is time to get back on the ball and get more Jeep projects... oh yeah, and finish the Cuda...

So when you realize yu cannot buy this just give me the address so I can take a trip up there this weekend.

I saw a white CJ6 a few years ago. most people don't know what they are.

As a CJ6 owner I can tell you that you will love that jeep. I looked for 4 years to find mine. It rocks, has lots of room and always draws a crowd.

It isn't the fact that I can't buy it, it is if I should or shouldn't... angel is losing big time to the devil at the moment.

Dearest Mr Certifiable Jeep,

As a Jeep lover, I am happy to hear that you love Jeeps too. However, at this time, I must call you selfish! Another Jeep? Comeon! This is why I dont have one! People buy them and really never want to let go, but when they do get sold they get sold to people like you that have thousands of them :)

Congrats on the find. :) BTW, people at the bar love the definition on the shirt :)

Cant possibly need another Jeep , must resist the urge to buy ScramJ-7 , have a Scrambler and a CJ7 yet still feel the need to buy this one... no I mustn't the wife would kill me. My head hurts from going around in circles. :D

Give me a picture of your head and I can photchop it into the window and then you can show your wife and say, see how cool I would look in this? ROFL!

Did you get it ?

Unfortunately no... the lowdown on it was that it was a service vehicle for a town in Mass... it had/has a plow on it and all in all, it has been parked for many years... 4 banger in it, he says it runs, but we didn't get that far, it is tucked away in between 2 other rigs.

I have pictures of it, but basically it is in rough shape and needs a total restoration. More than I want to get into right now. it has some rot on the underside of the bed supports and the front fenders need work as does the top... top was cool though. The sides had some plastic in it as well as the floors had patches riveted in as well as the rear corner had a patch... It was backed against a wall, so I couldn't see the back of it.

He had a lot of stuff actually, but in all, it was really tucked away, behind many other vehicles and I guess the brakes were frozen up, so in order to get it out it was going to be a chore. He thinks that it is probably worth 5-7K from what his buddies and he has seen... nice guy, but unfortunately, if it is worth 5-7K done up, I would have to get it for under a grand and put a lot of time and effort into it to be worth that much... and he isn't exactly giving this stuff away.

I am glad I went, but he needs to put pictures up of it... get it outside, running, etc. and then it would be worth more to someone... as it sits now, I don't think it is the best way to show it off and advertise it.

So, this is one of those things that I just have to pass on... just too much work and money for what I want to get into right now. Cool rig though and he was a nice Jeep guy.
