- about to aquire a cj 5 from one of two sellers; have a land rover disco w/ lockers etc.; dodge P/U w hemi; lexus 330.
I think that the way I want to step off this island I stand on, I am going to look into the jeeps that have been upgraded with non-radical measures;
I expect to have a punch list for my review of this Sahara '99 model; five speed manual; 3" lift; 33's; ..
I still want a military or CJ5 sized machine; but this two door sahara seems to be sporting a few thousand dollars of upgrades/maintenance.. and just a small bit to do that is already known..
the trick will be if I can search well enough to know that i did not miss a huge problem by overlooking it. I can guarantee a check of brakes; 4lo/4hi/steering and fluids flush completely gears, Transmission ., etc.
radiator; and am determined to really search for frame rust or damage.
I am excited, but still have this nagging in the back of my mind that I do not have a CJ5 .. and it is not an army M-38 series, or whatever.
what did interest me is that in original form the sahara was the model that matched the rubicon's differential clearance of like 10.3"
I am hoping it just knocks my socks off... I have a feeling if this turns out to be my first jeep; it will not be my last... I tend to really get into things that have a learning and history involves .. and comeraderie is a great boost.
Regardless of tomorrow's results I am going to begin research on the viability and cost burdens of running an original army jeep.. I saw a little military jeep that burned any type of oil/ kerosene to motor oil to deisel. Intriguing, and something I would like to know a whole lot more about.
thanks guys.
update later, I have things to learn before tomorrow afternoon.
